ABU DHABI – Authorities in the UAE capital have confirmed that six people were injured after drone debris fell in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD 2), following the successful interception of aerial threats by the country’s air defence systems.
The incident occurred as the UAE continued to counter incoming drones and missiles during the ongoing escalation linked to Iranian attacks.
According to officials, the debris landed in two separate locations within the industrial zone, causing minor to moderate injuries to six individuals. The injured were Pakistani and Nepali nationals, and emergency services quickly responded to the scene.

Drone attack
The incident in ICAD 2 took place after air defence systems intercepted drones approaching the country. Debris from the destroyed aerial objects fell in two areas of the industrial district, resulting in injuries to six workers present at the locations.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office said emergency teams and relevant authorities responded immediately to the incident. Medical assistance was provided to those injured, whose conditions were described as minor to moderate.
Officials stressed that the UAE’s defensive systems had successfully neutralised the threats before they could reach intended targets. The debris impact occurred as a consequence of those interceptions.

Interceptions
The Ministry of Defence detailed the scale of the latest defensive operations carried out across the country. According to the ministry, UAE air defence systems detected seven ballistic missiles launched towards the country.
Six of those missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed, while one missile fell within the UAE’s territory.
At the same time, the systems detected a large number of drones approaching the country. A total of 131 drones were identified, with 125 intercepted and destroyed before reaching their targets. Six drones fell within the UAE’s territory.
Defence officials said the interceptions demonstrate the readiness of the country’s defence systems, which remain fully operational and deployed across strategic locations to monitor and neutralise potential threats.
Authorities also released cumulative figures illustrating the scale of the aerial attacks since the beginning of the escalation.
According to the Ministry of Defence, a total of 196 ballistic missiles launched towards the UAE have been detected so far. Of these, 181 were intercepted and destroyed by air defence systems, while 13 fell into the sea and two landed within the country’s territory.
During the same period, 1,072 drones were detected approaching the UAE. Defence systems intercepted and destroyed 1,001 of them, while 71 drones fell within the country.
Officials also confirmed that eight cruise missiles were detected and successfully destroyed by air defence systems.
The attacks have resulted in three fatalities involving individuals of Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationalities, according to official figures. Authorities also reported 94 minor injuries among people of several nationalities including Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian and Turkish.
Emergency services and medical teams responded to the incidents and provided assistance where required. Officials said response protocols are activated immediately whenever aerial threats are detected.
Authorities continue to emphasise that defence systems remain on high alert, with monitoring and response measures in place across the country as the security situation develops.
